About
16volt is an American industrial rock band formed in 1991 by Eric Powell. The band is a pioneer of the "coldwave" subgenre, merging heavy metal guitar riffs with electronic industrial rhythms. They rose to prominence in the 1990s through the Re-Constriction Records label with albums like 'Wisdom' and 'SuperCoolNothing'. 16volt gained mainstream attention for their appearance on the soundtrack of the PlayStation 2 game 'Primal'. Despite various hiatuses, Powell has continued the project, releasing the album 'The Negative Space' in 2016 and 'Dead on Dead' in 2017.
