A Sound of Thunder
About
A Sound of Thunder is an American heavy metal band from the Washington, D.C., metro area, known for their powerful female vocals and energetic live performances. Formed in 2008 by guitarist Josh Schwartz and drummer Chris Haren, the band initially went through several lineup changes before recruiting vocalist Nina Osegueda in October 2009. They released their self-titled debut EP in late 2009, followed by their first full-length album, 'Metal Renaissance,' in 2011. Over the years, they have released multiple albums, including 'Out of the Darkness' (2012), 'Time's Arrow' (2013), and 'The Lesser Key of Solomon' (2014). In 2015, they released 'Tales from the Deadside,' a concept album based on the Valiant Comics character Shadowman. The band is also known for their cover of the Catalan anthem 'Els Segadors,' which gained viral popularity in Catalonia in 2017. In 2023, drummer and co-founder Chris Haren retired from the band after 13 years of service. The remaining members, Nina Osegueda, Josh Schwartz, and Jesse Keen, have expressed intentions to continue making music together, though it remains uncertain whether they will continue under the name A Sound of Thunder.
