Axis: Sova

About

Axis: Sova is a psychedelic rock project masterminded by Brett Sova. Originally started as a solo, drum machine-driven noise project in Chicago around 2012, it has since evolved into a high-octane power trio featuring Jeremy Freeze on bass and Josh Johannpeter on drums. Brett Sova, originally from Columbus, Ohio, moved to Chicago and was previously a member of the band Mass Shivers. The band is a staple of the Drag City / God? Records roster, with a sound often described as "robo-rock" or "art-damaged boogie." They have a strong connection to the Milwaukee underground scene through drummer Josh Johannpeter (a Milwaukee native known for his work in Maritime and Volcano Choir) and frequent performances at local venues like Cactus Club.
