Aya

About

*aya (pronounced Aya) is a Palestinian-American singer-songwriter based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A former "choir kid" raised in Milwaukee and Franklin, she transitioned to solo songwriting and performing around 2021. Her music is a genre-fluid blend of neo-soul, hyperpop, and indie rock, characterized by her soulful, jazz-influenced vocal delivery and raw, diary-like lyricism. Her songs frequently explore themes of self-reflection, mental health, love, and personal growth. Since her debut, she has become a prominent figure in the Milwaukee underground scene, performing at notable venues such as the Cactus Club and Summerfest. Her discography includes the EPs 'sweet sonder' and the 8-track 'time & metaphors'.
