The Blank Theory was an American nu metal band from Chicago, Illinois, active from 1998 to 2004. The band initially self-released two EPs, 'Blinding Process' in 1998 and 'Catalyst' in 2000. The latter featured the track 'Nevermind,' which was highlighted in a segment of MTV's 'Road Rules.' Their third release, 'Beyond the Calm of the Corridor,' produced by Adam Schlesinger and James Iha, was released on September 24, 2002. This album included a cover of Portishead's 'Sour Times,' featured in the movie trailer for 'Wicker Park,' and 'Middle of Nowhere,' which appeared on the 'Freddy vs. Jason' soundtrack and in 'Final Destination 2.' The band underwent lineup changes, with guitarist Michael Foderaro leaving in May 2003 and being replaced by Mateo Camargo from the band Reforma. Drummer James Knight and keyboardist Shawn Currie departed in mid-2004, leading to the formation of Madina Lake by vocalist Nathan Leone and bassist Matthew Leone, along with members from Reforma.
