About
The Gap Band was an American R&B and funk group formed in 1967 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson. They rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Shake" and "I Don't Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (Oops Upside Your Head)." The band's name was derived from the streets Greenwood, Archer, and Pine in Tulsa's historic Greenwood neighborhood.
