Club Nouveau is an American R&B group formed in 1986 in Sacramento, California, by producer Jay King following the breakup of the Timex Social Club. The group achieved significant success with their 1987 cover of Bill Withers' "Lean on Me," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. Other notable hits include "Jealousy" and "Why You Treat Me So Bad," the latter of which has been widely sampled in hip-hop tracks over the years.
