About
Darkened is an international death metal supergroup formed in 2018, primarily spearheaded by Swedish guitarist and songwriter Hempa Brynolfsson (Excruciate, Ordo Inferus). The band features a high-profile lineup of veterans from the global extreme metal scene, including vocalist Gord Olson (Ye Goat-Herd Gods, Demisery), guitarist Linus Nirbrant (A Canorous Quintet, This Ending), bassist Tobias Cristiansson (Grave, ex-Dismember), and drummer Perra Karlsson (ex-Benediction, Destroyer 666), who replaced original drummer Andrew Whale (ex-Bolt Thrower). Their sound is a powerful amalgamation of old-school Swedish death metal and the tank-like, mid-paced grooves characteristic of the classic British style. Signed to Edged Circle Productions, they have released several acclaimed works, including their debut album 'Kingdom of Decay' (2020), 'The Black Winter' (2022), and 'Defilers of the Light' (2024).
