Joshua Paul Davis, known professionally as DJ Shadow, is a pioneering American DJ and record producer who revolutionized hip-hop through his mastery of sampling and turntablism. He first gained notoriety in the early 1990s while attending the University of California, Davis, where he worked at the campus radio station KDVS and co-founded the Solesides label. His 1996 debut studio album, 'Endtroducing.....', earned a place in the Guinness World Records as the first album created entirely from samples and is widely considered a masterpiece of the trip-hop and instrumental hip-hop genres. Over his three-decade career, he has collaborated with diverse artists ranging from Run The Jewels to Thom Yorke and remains a central figure in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene.
