About
Formed in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, ☆FAVELAS is a high-energy seven-piece Chicano band based on Chicago’s South Side. The group is composed of seasoned musicians with over a decade of experience, including Carlos (keys/vocals), Isaac (rhythm guitar/vocals), Damien (saxophone/vocals), Eduardo (percussion/vocals), Flavio (bass/vocals), Luis (drums), and Jose (lead guitar/vocals). Their sound is a diverse fusion of Latin and urban genres, blending the rhythmic drive of Cumbia and Ska with the edge of Alternative Rock and Hip-Hop. The band's name represents a 'musical family' sharing a common creative space and growth. They have become a notable presence in the Midwest underground and DIY circuits, frequently performing in Milwaukee and sharing stages with legendary Latin acts such as El Tri, Molotov, Maldita Vecindad, and Los Caligaris. They appeared as a featured act at the 2023 Ruido Fest.
