About
God Dethroned is a prominent Dutch extreme metal band formed in 1990 by frontman Henri Sattler in Beilen, Netherlands. Known for their high-speed, melodic, and blackened approach to death metal, the band gained international acclaim with their 1999 album 'Bloody Blasphemy' on Metal Blade Records. Over their career, they have explored varied themes, including a highly praised concept trilogy about World War I ('Passiondale', 'Under the Sign of the Iron Cross', and 'The World Ablaze'). After multiple hiatuses and lineup shifts, the band remains a major force in the European metal scene, most recently releasing 'The Judas Paradox' in 2024.
