About
NAYSAYER is a prominent heavy hardcore band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2007. Known for their "tough-as-nails" sound that blends traditional NYHC aggression (influenced by bands like Madball and Terror) with metallic chugging and punishing riffs, they became a staple of the late 2000s and early 2010s hardcore scene. Their debut full-length, 'Laid to Rest' (2011), released on Reaper Records, is widely regarded as a modern classic in the genre. The band has a significant historical connection to the Milwaukee underground music scene, having performed legendary and often chaotic sets at venues like The Rave and X-Ray Arcade during the height of the "Midwest Blood" movement. After a lengthy hiatus, NAYSAYER returned to active status in 2024, performing at major festivals like United Blood and releasing new material such as the 'Rage Dreams 2025' EP.
