About
Opprobrium is a pioneering death and thrash metal band originally formed in 1986 in Metairie, Louisiana, by brothers Francis and Moyses Howard. Initially operating under the name Incubus, the band became a staple of the early extreme metal scene with their 1988 debut album 'Serpent Temptation'. Following a hiatus and legal complications regarding their original name (to avoid confusion with the California rock band Incubus), they rebranded as Opprobrium in 1999. Their music is characterized by blistering speed, complex arrangements, and themes that often incorporate Christian perspectives alongside traditional metal imagery. The band has maintained a dedicated global following through decades of influential releases, including 'Beyond the Unknown' and 'The Fallen Entities' (2019).
