Originally formed in 1989 in Racine, Wisconsin, under the name Fruit Salad, the group consisted of high school friends who played together in their school's jazz band. Influenced by bands like Living Colour and Bad Brains, they developed a sound blending rock, funk, and reggae. After a three-decade hiatus, the band reunited in 2026 under the name Peace Love Hope. The trio features guitarist Chan Hansted alongside the rhythm section from the well-known Madison reggae staple Natty Nation: John Boogie (bass) and Pauli (drums).
