Rick Fitzgerald
About
Rick Fitzgerald is a self-taught folksinger and songwriter from Franklin, Wisconsin. He began his musical journey influenced by artists like Peter, Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio, and John Denver. In 1977, after attending a Bryan Bowers performance, he took up the autoharp, modifying it to create a diatonic layout with fewer chord bars and doubled strings. Fitzgerald's dedication led him to win the 2009 Mountain Laurel Autoharp Champion title. Beyond performing, he contributes to the folk music community by serving on the board of directors for the Mountain Laurel Autoharp Gathering and chairs the Make Our Own (MOO) Music Gathering, an organization dedicated to teaching and preserving acoustic folk music. He has recorded two CDs, 'Living Up to a Dream' and 'Crossing the Water,' and has taught at various festivals across the country. ([mlag.org](https://mlag.org/rick-fitzgerald/?utm_source=openai))
