About
Rita Lukea is a Chicago-based vocalist and songwriter, best known as the frontperson for the darkwave and EBM trio Pixel Grip. Originally from Crystal Lake, Illinois, Lukea met collaborator Jonathon Freund in high school before forming the band to explore 'goth-disco' and club-oriented electronic music. Their work is characterized by themes of queer desire, power dynamics, and body positivity, delivered through a theatrical and commanding stage presence. Lukea is a prominent figure in Chicago's underground dance and goth-adjacent scenes, frequently performing at venues like The California Clipper and major festivals like Riot Fest and Bumbershoot.
