About
Sharp Pins is the solo project of Chicago-based musician Kai Slater, who is also the frontman of the art-punk band Lifeguard. Embracing a lo-fi power pop sound, Sharp Pins blends 1960s and 1970s rock influences with modern indie-pop sensibilities. The project has released several albums, including 'Turtle Rock' (2023), 'Radio DDR' (2024), and 'Balloon Balloon Balloon' (2025). Slater's music has been compared to artists like Guided By Voices, The Byrds, and Big Star, capturing youthful emotions with authenticity. Sharp Pins has gained recognition in Chicago's indie music scene and has toured internationally, including a successful tour in Spain in May 2025.
