Static Trip is a Midwest-based underground music project that describes its sound as "space grunge" or "heavygaze." Emerging in 2025, the band gained attention within the regional DIY scene for their debut single "Awake," a track characterized by low-tuned riffs and ethereal, shoegaze-influenced textures. While based in the Aurora/Chicago area, the group is frequently featured alongside Wisconsin acts on regional playlists and shares its name with the "Static Trip" overcurrent trip devices historically manufactured by Allis-Chalmers in West Allis, Wisconsin. They are known for a "wall of sound" approach and have performed at notable Chicago underground venues such as The Burlington and Reggies Music Joint.
