deathandserenity is a solo depressive black metal and post-black metal project from Chicago, Illinois, established in 2018. The project is the work of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist J (James Chen), who is also widely known for the cybergrind project Blind Equation and the band Portals. The music blends atmospheric black metal with blackgaze elements and is a fixture in the regional underground metal scene, having performed at events such as Distress Fest.
