About
Side.Door is a five-piece fusion jazz ensemble based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group was formed in 2024, evolving from a trio of longtime friends—saxophonist Charlie Skaret, bassist Kai Knudson, and guitarist Isaac Gelfman—to include drummer Jared Ammon and pianist John Kuntz. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of artists ranging from Duke Ellington and Bill Withers to Franz Liszt and Frank Sinatra, the band fuses upbeat elements of jazz, classical, and pop. They are known for performing original compositions and contemporary arrangements of jazz standards across venues in the Twin Cities, such as the Aster Cafe, Urban Forage Winery and Cider House, Amsterdam Bar and Hall, and the White Squirrel.
