About
The Bar-Kays are a pioneering funk and soul band formed in 1966 in Memphis, Tennessee. Initially serving as the house band for Stax Records, they provided backing for artists like Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes. Despite a tragic plane crash in 1967 that claimed the lives of several members, the surviving members reformed and continued to influence the music industry with their energetic performances and distinctive sound.
