In Flames is a pioneering Swedish metal band formed in 1990 by guitarist Jesper Strömblad. Alongside At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity, they are considered creators of the melodic death metal subgenre known as the "Gothenburg Sound." Over their decades-long career, the band has transitioned from their early death metal roots into a more melodic, alternative, and groove-oriented metal style. With 14 studio albums and multiple Swedish Grammis awards, they have sold millions of records worldwide and remain a dominant force in the international metal scene. They have a strong touring presence in the Midwest, frequently headlining venues like The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee and appearing at the Milwaukee Metal Fest.
